i think that the necro should stay i mean the necro is awesome and more morbid than the witch doctor i mean witch doctor doesnt work for diablo i mean in a fight who would win anyway? and plus the necro was like the good badass lookin guy so ya i definitely think necro should stay.
With the skills already known:
From a hardcore perspective the class is above average (can summon minions to tank, can summon wall to defend, and fear AOE.
From a softcore perspective the class will be boring (probably due to the boredom of SC mode in general)
From a PvP perspective the class is definitely below average. It's only viable attack Skull of Flame", and even with that what are the chances of it actually connecting against a non-sleeping opponent? I'm sure Blizz will balance all the classes for D3 overtime for pvp anyways.
Im a fan of the good ol' witchdoctor. To me, every game has to have the basic warrior class, the spellcasting class, and then 2-3 more that differ from these slightly. At least this way they are changing it up a bit and giving us different options than what we had in D2
I think good rpg actions games give each class a different personality. There is always the super good hero that follows the rules (The paladin that follows the holy light). The hero that is bad, but wants to redeem to do good (the necromancer/assassin). The light shows or very flashy ones (sorceress). The I'm going to kill you from far away because blood scares me (amazon). The I'ma go in there n click on my mouse a few times, drink a soda, eat some popcorn and watch my hero bash the brains out of the computer (barbarian). And the I am everything hero (druid).
Another analogy- Super-heroes
superman- the paladin
wonder women- the amazon
green lantern- the sorceress
batman/robin- the necromancer/assassin
aqua man- the druid
the hulk- the barbarian

Life is an art, your the artist, and the best paintings are ones filled with passion and emotions.
I find it interesting that everyone is associating the Witch Doctor with the Necro. I am kinda hoping this is a replacement for the Druid rather then the Necro. I think that the Druid was a weak class and would rather see the necromancer in D3 then the Druid. Either way this character doesn't appeal to me much because id rather kill things myself then have summons do all the dirty and fun work for me.
Personally, I like to imagine I'm the character I'm playing. This in my opinion is what role playing games are all about.
My point in saying that is, I wouldn't like imagining I'm some hideous self-mutilating figure abundant with piercings.
I never saw the use of the Necro in D2, yeah sure for single player he was pretty good but never really found any Baal running Necros or PvP dominating Necros. It was pretty much all Paladin, everyone had one.
You can make a pretty good PvP necro. It uses skills people generally don't resistance for (except poison)
I LOVE the idea of the WD...Yea he's taking the place of the poor necromancer but this is something different. I know alot of people don't care for graphics as far as D2's...but I would grow headaches staring at the horrible figures called US. D3's graphics are crazy good, and as far as WD's attacks look...they are astonishing. Locust swarm, fire bomb, do I need to name the rest? Honestly...where I'm getting at is he's gonna be a great character to play as. Everyone is saying he looks OP'd but that's only cause his attacks are soo strong from them upgrading him to give a preview what he will be able to do after putting some work into him. So people....have FAITH![]()
What I think:
It's obvious that it's a replacement for the Necromancer, and I was a big fan of the Necromancer in Diablo 2. The Witch Doctor looks like a fun class to play if you don't mind using your head a bit and using a wide variety of skills and not just a few that you spam over and over. While my main character will be a Wizard, I'll be sure to make a Witch Doctor after the game has been out a while and people make guides. It's no fun playing a class like the Witch Doctor without having a plan to follow.
Necromancers were really difficult to kill in PVP if the person playing the Necromancer had good gear, skills, and knew how to play. As a melee character it's difficult to do anything because of the many curses the Necromancer has. Throw on some Iron Maiden and Amplify and you're killing yourself and taking double damage. As a ranged character (Amazon, Assassin, Druid, Sorceress, Hammerdin) you'd have to deal with Bone Spirit and Bone Wall. Once you're surrounded by Bone Spirits and you star getting hit it's over, and if you mess up and get caught in a Bone Wall while casting something you get destroyed by a strong Bone Spear before you can teleport. I had a PVP Necromancer and it was great fun killing people. And in my experience Necromancers were essential in Baal runs. Bone Wall gives everybody breathing room, curses make killing much easier, and Bone Spear kills mobs like crazy.
