Psh, I am diligent enough to log on at least every 90 days and refresh all my characters...unless you count that one time where I forgot but magically all my characters hadn't been wiped so they were classified as 'expired' however I was able to log into them and play...no longer 'expired'...I'm guessing it wasn't long after the 90 days I remembered.

But in real honesty I would pay for an undeletable account knowing that Blizzard will be around for a long time so I can trust their servers. Maybe $10 on top of the game price would be the right price. I'm betting that will be one of their features they're implementing that we'll have to pay for

I have to say that 10$ would be a good investment...

I lost a mule account once with nothing but runes and socketables on all characters. Kind of makes you sad.

I wish D2 had that, I've restarted like 4 times, each time losing anywhere from 1 to 4 accounts due to inactivity (i know my fault, but none the less I lost them)

Anyway, if for some reason blizzard has it setup like in D2 where you can create as many accounts as you want I would pay for an account not to be deleted. But with the way games (actually software in general) are headed these days it will most likely be:

    1 account = 1 cdkey

Because a cdkey is bound to the account I highly doubt they would delete the account/characters after inactivity.

I hadn't even thought about whether or not the accounts might be bound to each cd key. It would be a sound business plan for blizz, especially if they were to make space somewhat limited. Buy a new copy to mule anyone? I'd be glad to stick with that method though just to know that my account wouoldn't poof as fast as those duped runes.

Guild Wars uses a system where an account is bound to a cdkey. You get 4 characters the main game, and then 2 additional for each expansion pack. And then they give the option to pay $10 for a new character slot.

I personally like the idea of one account per cdkey. Not only because it will almost certainly mean the account is permanent, but also because there will be some accountability for players. It will cut down on people scamming, spamming, and cheating. You wouldn't be able to make a disposable account you don't care about. Just my thoughts...

Ya I think that would be a nice addition, I also have had to start over, in ways its kinda fun because it brings back the challenge to the game, but is still a pain in the ass.

Yes, but if d3 has ladder seasons it can feel like a delete if you want to stay in ladder realm.

They could make the ladder not turn to standard. I always fealt ladder should end and your chars go back to level 1.
